More about Elena

Why did you choose NTU and your course?

I have been exposed to content creation for a large majority of my life so when I discovered that NTU offered a Content Creation course, I began looking into it. I love the city of Nottingham and found the facilities here incredible and beneficial to the career path I wanted to take.

What’s your favourite thing about your course?

I am a huge fan of the workshops held within the course as they are helpful in progressing my own skills. I also like how opportunities are presented from external clients to help progress my skills in the industry alongside the course.

How have you found the course facilities?

NTU offers so many facilities that aid in my completion of course work as well as professional work outside of the course. Being able to easily hire out equipment is a game changer and NTU offers so many options that it is easy to find and access anything you need.

Have you worked on any live briefs or competitions?

During my time here, I have had the opportunity to work with many incredible clients presented through the course. One of the more memorable was creating content at the League of Legends NLC Winter Finals and the RLCs event in Birmingham – two major events I would have never been able to do without the assistance of the staff at NTU.

Has your course included any guest speakers or industry trips?

We have had a good selection of industry professionals come in to give talks that have been very insightful throughout my time here. I have learnt a lot about the professional industry and how to approach this to a point where I am confident in my own abilities.

What three words would you use to describe Nottingham?

Unique, diverse, opportunistic.

What do you think of the creative and cultural scene in Nottingham? Is Nottingham a good city for an Art & Design student?

Nottingham has an incredible creative and cultural scene – from music to street art and fashion. There are many events that take part in Nottingham that celebrate creativity that it would be almost impossible for any art and design student to not find something they are interested in.

Where would you recommend visiting in Nottingham?

I would always recommend Hockley for its range of independent shops that appeal to a wide variety of individuals. I also recommend a lot of the smaller music venues as they host so many talented musicians and really show off Nottingham’s music scene.

If you could give new students some advice, what would it be?

Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and reach out for opportunities. Send those emails or ask your lecturers if they have any opportunities – it will be one of the best things you do. Step out of that comfort zone!

What do you think of the course staff?

All the staff at NTU are incredibly helpful. Any issues or concerns you have; they are amazing at helping out and providing assistance with whatever you need. I have dealt with multiple members of staff both through the course and internal opportunities and they have all been incredibly supportive and want you to do the best you can.

Have you used any of the student support services or NTU’s Employabiliy team? How have you found this experience?

The NTU Employability team are a life saver. I have used them to help build up my portfolio and CV and this is one of the factors that has helped me access as many opportunities as I have during my time here.

What’s next for you after NTU?

I have started my own content creation business with a classmate within the world of esports called ‘Patchnote Media’. I am planning to put all my time into this as well as freelance work. A lot of the opportunities I have received through NTU have already turned into returning clients so I can use this as an opportunity to expand my business further.
