More about Hansanee

Hansanee graduated in 2023 and works as a B2C Channel Controller at Nestle Nespresso UK. We caught up with her to learn more about her experiences at Nottingham Business School .

Q: What is your current role and what does it entail?

A: I am currently working as the B2C Channel Controller of Nestle Nespresso UK. My role is to act as the finance business partner to Heads of the E-Commerce and Retail channels, providing reporting, forecasting and analysis of top-line performance and underlying cost base. My job role consists of value/wealth creation through identifying and modelling investment opportunities in line with the strategic direction of the business.

Q: Why did you choose to study at Nottingham Business School and NTU?

A: I chose to study at Nottingham Business School due to the exceptional reputation for offering high-quality business education. After conducting a thorough comparison of MBA programs offered by several universities, I have chosen this MBA program due to its well-balanced curriculum encompassing theoretical knowledge and practical assignments that allowed us to deal with real world business-people in the UK. Notably, the program's incorporation of a global consultancy project beyond the confines of the UK provides a global perspective, further enhancing its appeal and relevance to my career aspirations.

Q: Why did you want to study an MBA course?

A: Having accumulated over seven years of experience in the Finance and Accountancy field, I recognised the need to expand my knowledge beyond my current expertise to advance in my career. To achieve this, I decided to pursue an MBA program that would provide me with a comprehensive understanding of various business functions and enhance my leadership skills. Gaining insights into areas such as marketing, operations, supply chain, and more is crucial for me as a finance business partner, to identify their constraints and impacts on the financial numbers we plan and analyse. I firmly believe that a business should be like a well-oiled engine, where all the departments should work collaboratively to achieve the overall business target. Thus, to become a senior leader it is essential to have the theoretical knowledge and understanding in all the functions to avoid making decisions in silo mentality

Q: Tell us about your experience on the MBA.

A: Exceeding to my expectations, the course offered a greater depth of content, enabling a more profound self-awareness beyond the academic learning, by providing guidance for reflection on my professional practices and avenues for improvement.

Q: What skills have you developed to enhance your professional development?

A: Initially, I believed that academic qualifications alone would pave the way for advancement. However, through the insights gained during the course, I have come to recognise the immense importance of developing soft skills, leadership capabilities, and effective team management.

Q: How has your journey on this course contributed to your career and your prospects?

A: Throughout my MBA program, I have encountered major incidents that have shaped my understanding of effective teamwork and leadership. These experiences have highlighted the significance of communication, collaboration, and adapting leadership styles to different team dynamics. I have learned valuable lessons about personal growth, resilience, and strategies to overcome challenges and biases. These insights have provided me with a fresh perspective on career development, emphasising the importance of developing soft skills, leadership capabilities, and effective team management.

Also the learning coached me to change my mindset and the thinking pattern to accommodate value driven and holistic approach which is an essential skill to become a senior leader in a business.

Q: How have the range of teaching and assessment methods supported your learning?

A: The range of teaching and assessment methods at Nottingham Business School has been instrumental in supporting my learning journey. The incorporation of real-life business interactions and client collaborations within our assessments has elevated the learning experience, offering unmatched insights into the requirements and work culture of potential future employers. This practical exposure has not only enhanced my skills but also allowed me to build valuable networks, positioning me for a successful and rewarding career in the business world.

Q: What advice would you give to someone applying, or looking at studying an MBA?

A: If you're considering applying for an MBA, my advice would be to thoroughly research different business schools and their programs to find the best fit for your goals and aspirations. Look for schools with strong industry connections, practical learning opportunities, and a diverse and supportive learning environment. Additionally, don't underestimate the power of networking during your MBA journey, as building relationships with classmates, faculty, and alumni can open doors to valuable opportunities and enhance your overall learning experience.

Q: How would you rate the teaching and support staff on this course?

A: The teaching and support staff on this course have been exceptional. They demonstrate a high level of expertise and enthusiasm for their respective subjects, making the learning experience engaging and enriching. Moreover, their accessibility and willingness to provide additional support outside of class have been invaluable in clarifying concepts and addressing any challenges that arise. Overall, I would rate the teaching and support staff highly, as they have played a pivotal role in fostering a positive and conducive learning environment.
