Computer Science Degree Showcase 2023

Computer Science Showcase 2023 at NTU is an exciting display of talent and innovation for students to showcase their remarkable projects, celebrate their accomplishments, and build connections with industries.

Celebrating student achievements and industry connections

In an exciting display of talent and innovation, the Department of Computer Science at NTU recently hosted its highly anticipated Degree Showcase on Thursday, 27 April. The event provided an invaluable platform for students to showcase their remarkable projects, celebrate their accomplishments, and revel in a day filled with delicious food and endless fun. The efforts of these aspiring computer scientists have left a lasting impression on both academic staff and the employers who eagerly welcome our students for internships.

The Degree Showcase not only offered a glimpse into the future of computer science but also presented students with invaluable opportunities to explore their prospective fields of study and shape meaningful connections with a diverse range of industry leaders. Ten placement year students captivated their peers with project presentations, sharing their valuable experiences, while an impressive cohort of 45 final year students dazzled attendees, including their peers, faculty, and potential employers, with the unveiling of their ground breaking projects.

"What an absolute pleasure it was to be at Nottingham Trent University yesterday for their Computing Degree Showcase yesterday. The quality of students there was unsurprisingly exceptional and I really hope that the ones I spoke to (you know who you are!) will follow through with their applications to join us in 2024!" – Kish Gokani, Recruitment Business Partner (Technology) at Next.

These organizations showcased their own cutting-edge work and had the opportunity to witness first-hand the remarkable talents of our computer science students. The event's tremendous success was emphasized by the impressive attendance, with over a hundred people attending the event.

To express our appreciation for their unwavering dedication, each participating student was honoured with well-deserved certificates and trophies. Moreover, we took great pleasure in presenting a special award to Hannah Jacob, an outstanding student who has played an integral role in supporting the department throughout her academic journey. From her leadership role in DevSoc to her commendable work as a student ambassador and mentor, Hannah's contributions have been truly inspiring.

Congratulations to all the incredible students whose outstanding achievements were celebrated at the Degree Showcase. Your hard work, dedication, and unwavering passion for computer science have made NTU immensely proud. We have no doubt to see a bright future for all our students as they rise on their respective journeys, ready to embrace the challenges that lie ahead and contribute to the excellent reputation of students who graduate from NTU.

“The Computer Science Degree Show is one of my favourite events of the academic year. It is great to see our final year students enthused and proud of their achievements - as are we.  The buzz of excitement in the building is electric when all years come together to celebrate and be inspired by our "soon to be" graduates - the Class of 2023.” – Dr Jo Hartley, Deputy Head of Department.
