The Alumni and Industry Fellowship Programme is comprised of a world-wide network of volunteers who generously support activities across NTU such as mentoring, guest lecturing and employability workshops. In this current academic year alone, Alumni and Industry Fellows have accumulated nearly 2000 volunteering hours – an incredible testament to their unwavering support. Even more exciting, 2025 marks 10 years of the Alumni and Industry Fellowship Programme, and the remarkable commitment by our Fellows!

Alumni Fellows on the Design and Digital Arts balcony overlooking Nottingham
In an evening of thanks and celebration, Fellows were invited to our latest addition to City campus, the Design and Digital Arts Building. A building full of innovation and inspiration for current and future NTU students, it was the perfect backdrop to a very special evening. Guests were able to take a tour, as well as network and connect, before the rest of the evening began.

Emrys Green presenting on his experiences as a Fellow
Guests enjoyed a series of inspirational presentations, beginning with an address by Jane McNeil, NTU’s Pro-Vice Chancellor for Education. Jane highlighted the impact the Alumni and Industry Fellowship Programme has had over the last 10 years, sharing that over 31,000 students have been supported, nurtured and inspired so far, and over 18,000 hours have been volunteered by Fellows.
Emrys Green, an Outstanding Alumni Fellow award winner, then shared his experiences as an Alumni Fellow since joining the programme in 2015. Emrys talked about the various activities and events he’s participated in over the last 10 years, and some of the students he’s met along the way. He shared that he enjoys seeing every volunteering opportunity as a chance to learn and grow, and reminded us that the Programme is not only a way to support and help to develop NTU students, but to develop yourself too.

Kevon, Lila & Sam sharing their experiences during the panel
Guests then heard from two students and one recent graduate, who had all interacted and engaged with an Alumni or Industry Fellow. Senior Alumni Relations Manager, Bethany Carter-Bown, hosted a small panel to delve deeper into the impact and outcomes of these experiences.
Kevon Mukabi, a final year Marketing student, shared his experience with a transformative mentoring relationship whilst participating in the Black Leadership Programme. Lila Yakimova, a 2nd year Law student, also joined the panel having interacted with a Fellow as part of our Rise Programme and within a Nottingham Law School mentoring programme. Finally, Sam Griffin, 2024 graduate from Business Management and HR, shared his experience as part of the Nottingham Business School Industry Mentoring Programme.
All three shared the practical advice they received, such as refining CV’s and interview techniques, methods to improve procrastination habits, and how to work out their future steps. They also shared the more meaningful side for them; that the Fellows built their confidence and helped them to feel empowered.

Proud Alumni and Industry Fellows!
Fellows were delighted to hear students’ experiences first-hand and understand just how their volunteering can impact the students they encounter.
Finally, to celebrate the milestone anniversary, a special thank you booklet was revealed; created to look back over the last decade of support, and thank all of the Fellows for their valuable contribution to the Programme.
Following presentations and accompanied by some wonderful music by NTU musicians, guests were invited to network with canapés and refreshments with other Fellows and staff in attendance. As the evening continued, the room was full of conversation, and a sense of excitement for the next year of volunteering ahead.
NTU is looking forward to continuing their work with Alumni and Industry Fellows in the 2025/26 academic year as they continue to contribute to the success of the many students who will follow in their footsteps.
