What are the entry requirements for students from Hong Kong?
The entry requirements for Bachelors and Masters degrees at NTU for student from Hong Kong are listed below. Select your qualification from the list to see what you need to join a course at the University.
Please note that these entry requirements are guidelines only. If you have questions about your qualification and it is not listed here, please contact us.
Considered for Year One entry to Bachelor’s degrees at NTU, based on the UCAS Tariff point requirement shown on individual course pages.
HKDSE scores are considered as follows:
- 5** = 56 points
- 5* = 52 points
- 5 = 48 points
- 4 = 32 points
- 3 = 16 points
- 2 = 0 points
- 1 = 0 points
A maximum of five HKDSE subjects will be considered.
Please note that Compulsory and Extended Mathematics are each worth 50% of the above points total, but can be combined to count as 1 of your top 5 HKDSE scores.
Citizenship and Social Development (Attained) = 8 points
Where a course requires an A Level in a specific subject, applicants should have achieved HKDSE Level 4 in that subject (where a ‘C’ is required) or HKDSE Level 5 (where an ‘A’ or ‘B’ is required).
Considered for Year One entry to Bachelors degrees.

We accept the following qualifications from Hong Kong in place of IELTS:
- Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) English Language: 3 = IELTS 6.0, 4 = IELTS 6.5 ; 5 = IELTS 7.0
- AS-level [HKEAA] Use of English: Grade E = IELTS 6.0, Grade D = IELTS 6.5
- Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) English: Grade C or Level 4.

Students who do not meet the English language requirements may be required to take a pre-sessional English language (PEAP) course.
