How We Support You

Our award-winning support teams across the University offer advice and guidance throughout your time as an international student here.

International Student Support

International student support

International student support team at NTU

Hi! Our team is dedicated to the needs of international students and we offer advice and guidance on a range of issues, including visas and living in the UK.

Our team is often some of the very first people you’ll meet as soon as you arrive because we run a series of welcome events and activities to help all international students settle in to the University.

We’re part of a wider team, student support services, you’ll find us in the Student Services Centre.

You can email us or call us on +44 (0)115 848 2631.

We look forward to meeting you!

If you want to speak to the team, contact us to request an appointment. You can also come and see us in the Student Services Centre in the Newton building 1-4pm Monday to Friday.

Our team can advise you on all aspects of visa application, including:

  • Student visa
  • Short-term study visa
  • Graduate route visa
  • Visa extension

Please check our advice online and contact us if you require any extra support.

Health and wellbeing

It's important to look after your physical and mental health to get the most out of your time at NTU. The Student Support team can offer support, help and advice while you're at university.

You'll need to register with a doctor (General Practitioner 'GP') at one of our health centres which are based on City and Clifon campuses and near Brackenhurst. When you have registered you will be able to access health care services.

Academic English language support

As an international student on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at NTU, you can benefit from English language support classes during your studies with our specialist lecturers from the Nottingham Institute for Languages and Intercultural Communication (NILIC). These sessions are free of charge and include one-to-one tutorials and help with academic writing.

Faith and spirituality

Our team of University Chaplains offer opportunities to discover, explore and practise your faith, whether that is through specific religious services, or more spiritual spaces including mindfulness and meditation.

We provide facilities for prayer and other faith activities across all campuses.

Our Employability teams offer you support throughout your time as a student here, and after you graduate.

  • Get personal advice from our specialist careers consultants, including guidance on how to apply for a work placement.
  • Join workshops with other students; for example guidance on how to write a strong CV or how to gain some interview practice.
  • You can even work to complete bronze, silver and gold Employability Awards as part of the University's Personal Development Programme.

You can access all the services that the team offer through the Employability Online space when you enrol as a student.
