History and Policy Research Group

Unit(s) of assessment: History

School: School of Arts and Humanities

Overview

The group codifies long-standing interests in policy for the expanded UofA. Broadly our aim is to understand how the policies of governments, charities, international organisations, pressure groups, institutions and cultural organisations have evolved and to generate suggestions as to where such policies might go in the future. Prior projects have included work on the Northern Ireland Peace Process; Educational and Schools Policy; Welfare Policy and work with international organisations including the EU on issues such as gender policy or sustainability.

Events

A History and Policy research seminar will run annually through the current REF cycle, and public engagement events, including a play on disability policy and the learning disabled will be staged with Open Theatre in a touring production. Our events will be accessible via the Eventbrite for the Centre for Research in History, Heritage and Memory Studies.
