Jiu Jitsu

A modern form of traditional Japanese martial art, Jiu Jitsu is a defensive art which uses joint locks, throws and strikes to defend from a variety of different attacks. Based on the principal of using an aggressor’s energy to their own disadvantage, Jitsu skills can be used by men, women and children to defend from aggressive situations commonly encountered today, from unwanted harassment to armed physical assault.

Club Overview

We train complete beginners up to senior grades with two training session per week on City Campus. As part of the Jiu-Jitsu Foundation, we support members in grading to earn new belts, we take part in two national competitions, and we often collaborate with other East Midlands clubs such as the University of Nottingham and Loughborough University.

Participation in competitions is completely optional. We take part in the Atemi Nationals and Randori Nationals as part of the Jiu-Jitsu Foundation.

Training takes place in the City Sports Studio on Monday and Friday evenings with our qualified instructor, Stephen Wood.
