At Trent Dance we offer a wide variety of styles for every ability, from hip-hop to ballet. So, if you’re an experienced dancer, a newbie, or somewhere in between we have a place for you. Why not get involved, learn a new style you’ll love, and join the Trent Dance family!

Club information

We hold auditions for the advanced and intermediate teams which take place at the start of every year. We also have open classes which require no audition for those who simply want to dance for fun.

We host an annual show at the end of the first term to showcase all of our routines, as well as guest features from other NTU clubs such as FFC, Pole and Cheer.

We host our own competition, which has been a raging success in past years. We also attend competitions across the country, where we compete against different universities in a variety of categories. It is always a great day out & so much fun!

Finally, each year we perform at the Nottingham Trent and The University of Nottingham’s Varsity. This is everyone’s favourite event to perform at, and auditions are open to everyone!

Practice / meeting schedule

We host classes at both the City and Clifton campus, so you have the opportunity to join Trent Dance no matter where you live, or what you study.

We train on Monday’s, Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Sunday’s- when you train will depend on the style and level of dance you do:

Sunday: City 12-3pm
Monday: Clifton 7-10pm
Tuesday: Clifton 5.30-7pm
Wednesday: Clifton 1-5pm, City 1-3pm

Taster sessions

We host taster sessions during Welcome Week to give you a feel for Trent Dance. Everyone is welcome so definitely come along and get involved!

How to join

After Welcome Week we hold auditions in the different styles for both advanced and intermediate teams. Everyone is welcome to these auditions no matter what your ability- come along, have fun and give it your best shot. Once the teams have been chosen, we begin training for the annual show- exciting!

If the audition process isn’t for you, we also offer open classes which run every week at both the City and Clifton campus- these classes also get to perform in our show.

Trent Dance has one of the lowest subs at Trent at just £60 in the first term and then additional fees of £10 for each of the remaining 2 terms.

There is a charge to perform at the show and attend the competitions, as well as costume fees (which we try and keep to a minimum).

We also offer Trent Dance merch if you want to rep the club, however this is not compulsory.
