Ellis Mee selected in Welsh squad for the 2025 Six Nations Championship

NTU Sport is thrilled to celebrate the remarkable achievement of Ellis Mee, a current third year Sports Science and Management NTU student, who has been selected in Warren Gatland’s Welsh squad for the 2025 Six Nations Championship.

Ellis joined NTU in 2022, recruited by Head of Rugby David Ross after showcasing his talent at Brooksby Melton College. He quickly made his mark in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) competition, earning a professional contract with Nottingham Rugby for the 2023/24 season.

His outstanding performances, which included winning both the players' and supporters’ player of the season awards, caught the attention of Llanelli Scarlets. Ellis signed a three-year deal with the United Rugby Championship (URC) side for the 2024/25 campaign, where he also competed in the European Challenge Cup. These accomplishments have now led to his call-up by Warren Gatland, one of rugby’s most respected coaches and a three-time Head Coach of the British and Irish Lions.

Pending selection, Ellis could make his international debut on Friday, January 31, at the iconic Stade de France in Paris. The Six Nations campaign will conclude at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff in mid-March.

This is a tremendous achievement from Ellis and all of us at NTU are delighted for him and we wish him the very best of luck. It has been fantastic to watch and support his development and shows what great opportunities university rugby can give you in your rugby development, with Ellis moving from BUCS Rugby to the international arena within just a couple of years.
