Debbie Clarke has taught at Nottingham Business School (NBS) as an hourly paid lecturer since 2016 and became a Senior Lecturer in Marketing in 2023 and Course Leader for BA Business Management and Entrepreneurship in 2025.
Career overview
Debbie Clarke, known as debbiedooodah, is an entrepreneur who launched her first business in 2011. As a Course Leader, she brings a wealth of experience in digital marketing, entrepreneurship, and business leadership to her learners. She launched her first business in with £750k in investment, has run a digital marketing agency, has been a business strategy and marketing coach, and is now a researcher in female entrepreneurship.
Debbie was named the UK’s Digital Woman of the Year in 2020 alongside other awards and is co-founder of the My Way Project CIC which creates toolkits and training to empower women in business and enterprise, women on low incomes and teenagers in alternative provision schools.
Research areas
Debbie’s research focuses on practical applications of marketing and on female entrepreneurship and scholarship. Debbie is the Principal Investigator for the Rise Report with Female Founders Rise, supported by Barclays Bank, with 2,225 responses this one of the largest surveys of female entrepreneurs in the UK
Debbie is also currently working in a team to develop a toolkit to support students' engagement in NBS. She is also a member of the EPIC group at NBS working towards engaging in practice for impact creation.
External activity
Debbie is a Founding Advisory Member of Female Founders Rise, a community for Female Founders.
Debbie is part of an arts and heritage project working towards increasing statues of women across the UK. The project raised over £200k to bring two statues of women to the green heart of Broadmarsh in Nottingham. In the UK (if you remove Queen Victoria) only 5% of statues are of women, there are more dogs and men named John.
