More about Charlotte

What have you enjoyed most about studying MA Illustration?
“The amount of freedom you have with your work. The tutors really encourage you to explore and investigate many different creative mediums, styles, and methods.

“I think the best part is using the creative facilities such as screen-printing and laser-cutting. The staff are more than willing to take the time to make sure you understand how processes work, and what amazing outcomes you can achieve. Without this help, I doubt I couldn't have done half my project!”

What have you enjoyed about studying and living in Nottingham?
“There are lots of creative opportunities in Nottingham and throughout the year, the course staff have really emphasised and encouraged me to go out and discover what design events are taking place around the city. This has helped me broaden my knowledge and insight into what happens in the creative industry.”

How have you found the Art and Design community within the University and in Nottingham?
“Inspiring! So many creative things happen in Nottingham that I wish to live here after I graduate! Most events and talks that I attended in the city were recommended by my tutors and friends. These have been a great way to explore Nottingham.”

Can you tell us a little bit about your project?
“My work focuses on bringing to light to forgotten yet significant women in history, and re-imagining them in order to inspire the younger female generation of today to consider exciting career and lifestyle prospects.”

Why would you recommend your course and the NTU School of Art & Design?
“Do it for the range of people you’ll meet over the year. I wish the course was longer purely because of the amazing experiences I have shared with my friends. Most of my friends have come from far and wide from Egypt, New York and Bulgaria. I have found that the different backgrounds, cultures and creative experiences they have shared with me throughout the year have really influenced my style and thinking.

“I’d also recommend the course for the way it has boosted my sense of initiative. The tutors teach you to be in charge of your own creative work, how it works and flows, and it’s totally up to you when it comes to what you want to say to your audience – they’ve supported me throughout my entire creative learning process.”
