A warm winter welcome to all our students
There are lots of events on offer during your first few weeks to help welcome you to Nottingham Trent University (NTU), the Nottingham Trent Students’ Union (NTSU) and the city itself.
You’ll have access to city tours, free lunches and activities at the Students’ Union taking place from Monday 9 January - Friday 10 February 2023. These are all a great opportunity to get to know your new surroundings, meet other new students and to start making lasting friendships.

Your welcome events
Winter Welcome to NTU
When: 1 February 2023 from 2 pm – 2:45 pm
Location: Newton LT4, City Campus
Join our welcome from Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Sharon Huttly and your Nottingham Trent Students’ Union Vice-President Postgraduate, Anna o’Hara. You’ll get an introduction to the postgrad community at NTU, and learn much about NTU and what is on offer while you are here with us.
Winter Welcome Social
When: 1 February 2023 from 2:45 pm – 5 pm
Location: The Level, NTSU, City Campus
The ‘after-party’ to the Winter Welcome to NTU. Grab some free food, socialise with other new students and relax in your city-based NTSU venue. This is also your big chance talk to representatives from NTU Sport, Student Support, NTU Global, NTU Library and others - to find out how to get involved and make the most of your time here.

Location: Meet on the steps in front of Newton, City campus
Wondering how to find your way around? Worry not! Join us for a student-led campus tour, and you'll soon feel at home. You'll be shown around by fellow students who can tell you where all the best places are to hang out, and where to find just about anything you might need on campus!

Come to this event run by the Global Lounge and International Student Support to find out more about some of the local ways of doing things, learn some interesting facts about your new home, such as the legend of Robin Hood and some great places to explore.

- Crafternoon, 3 pm – 5 pm, City and Clifton Global Lounges - Like crafting or just want to chill out while creating something? Join our weekly Crafternoons! We’ve done everything from mandala colouring to painting mugs, macrame and pottery!

- Varsity Ice Hockey match, 6 pm - 10 pm, City Campus - Join us for one of the highlights of the NTU sporting calendar as NTU face the Uni of Nottingham in the Varsity series. Expect a huge atmosphere and plenty of action. Buy your ticket in advance as normal but instead of going straight to the National Ice Centre, meet us on the steps outside Newton at 6pm. We'll walk to the venue together and you'll be able to enjoy the match in a group with other new students just like yourself.

- Wellbeing Walk with Mental Health Champions, 12 pm – 1 pm, Arboretum - Join our Student Mental Health Champions for a relaxing walk in the Arboretum! Getting into nature is great for our wellbeing, so come along and take some time out and meet new people. Our Champions are also there to chat if you have any questions about what support is available to NTU too. There’s no need to book, just turn up.

Global Lounge
All students are welcome to our Global Lounges at City Campus and Clifton Campus. You can join in with cultural events, practise at our Language cafes, join our games afternoons and meet students from around the world over a free tea or coffee and chat to our friendly staff.

NTU Global Week
Global Week is a vibrant, inspiring festival showcasing our multicultural community on campus every year. Through art, dancing, sport, and food, it connects and celebrates the different cultural heritages of our students and staff and provides an opportunity for them to extend their international outlook.
Global Week celebrations will take place 27 February - 3 March 2023.
