Our impact
Find out more about what we do to enable a sustainable culture at NTU, through driving performance on our environmental impacts and empowering others to deliver sustainability outcomes in their own settings.
Areas of impact
Carbon
NTU has pledged to achieve Net Zero Carbon emissions across all three carbon scopes by 2040 in order to create a Zero Carbon culture across the NTU community.
Travel and Transport
NTU is fortunate to be located in a city that has an excellent public transport network. In addition to the city's own facilities, we've significantly invested in facilities for cyclists and those who choose to walk or run to the University.
Waste and Recycling
NTU aims to minimise the amount of waste we produce and ensure we deal with any unavoidable waste appropriately.
Wildlife and green spaces
NTU's estate comprises over 260 hectares of land ranging from urban city centre to farmland. We are working hard to conserve and enhance NTU's biodiversity.
Construction projects
Meeting the highest standards in terms of sustainability, our campuses feature buildings at the cutting-edge of technology, all creating an environment that's as welcoming as it is inspiring.
Sustainable Labs
Our Sustainable Labs initiative brings together efforts across NTU to reduce the environmental impact of laboratory spaces and embed a culture of sustainability in research and teaching environments.
Ethics and Values
We are proud to be an ethical University and aim to include NTU's ethics and values in all decisions made across our organisation.
Food
Nottingham Trent University is proud to offer a comprehensive range of seasonal, local and ethically sourced meals across our main catering outlets.
