The Student Success Endowment: Robert

I am in my second year of studying my undergraduate degree in creative writing at NTU. This university and my eligibility to take this course are both an honour to me. Once I graduate I can pursue working in the publishing industry which will be an absolute dream come true. With the support of the Student Success Endowment (SSE), I’ve been able to keep up with the cost of reading materials for my course as well as making the most of my time in Nottingham.

I’ve found that the best thing to come from my experience with the SSE is how it provides me with financial assistance I know I can rely on. When I moved here, I won’t lie I was a bit afraid as I was away from my friends, family and everything I knew back in York. Through the support of the SSE, this burden was reduced as I had the capability to be more outgoing in both my academic life and my social life both inside and outside of university.

Having a social life is important to me, with the help of the SSE I can take part in society trips and events with the Gacha Society which so far has seen us go to conventions in both London and Birmingham. The SSE provided me with the support to purchase a ticket including transport to the locations and also tickets for the conventions. I had the opportunity to meet my favourite voice actress who is a huge inspiration to me as a person. This was a life experience I’ll never forget; I’ll always cherish and look back fondly upon opportunities like this.

To all those who donated to the Student Success Endowment, thank you so much for having such a positive impact on students’ lives.  For many students like me, the SSE has been a blessing and what feels like a lifesaver at times. Anyone who is considering donating I want to assure you that what you’re providing here at NTU is significant to everyone who receives it.
