Sustainability consultancy

NTU is one of the most sustainable universities in the world, and we are committed to enabling a culture of sustainable development. Sustainability is one of our six key strategic themes through which we are working to create a University of the future.

To support this, we offer a comprehensive package of support to help businesses become more sustainable, carbon-literate, and contribute towards an increasingly green economy. This support is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Processes and premises

NTU’s Sustainability team offers a consultancy service delivered by professionally qualified and experienced consultants to help you understand your business’ carbon footprint, (and make recommendations to reduce this), while improving environmental performance, reduce costs and ensure long-term sustainability.

The support includes:

  • a full site audit and evaluation of your premises and processes
  • a sustainability diagnostic report with recommendations to help optimise the sustainability of your business
  • development of a bespoke action plan based on these recommendations to address any key areas raised and to implement changes

Depending on certain criteria, you may also be able to access a grant of up to £5,000 to implement these recommendations.

Student consultancies

The support from our Sustainability team can be complemented by free consultancy from our final-year undergraduate students.

You can work with Nottingham Business School (NBS) students on projects that focus on carbon reduction in your processes, or with students from the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment (ADBE) to look at improvements relating to business premises.

You can also link with our product design experts to improve the sustainability credentials of your product design and manufacture.

Supported by the Design Matters group within our School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment, we can support you to achieve greater productivity and innovation, reduce carbon emissions and design out waste.

In addition to our expert advice, we can also embed our students within your business to complete projects to help you achieve this.
