Frequently asked questions
What is Clearing?
Clearing is a route for applicants who have received all their results to secure a place at a UK university for September 2026 entry, following the main UCAS application deadline of Tuesday 30 June 2026.
Applicants typically use Clearing if they:
- Haven’t yet applied to university but want to start in September
- Are applying for the first time after Tuesday 30 June 2026
- Didn’t receive any offers from universities
- Have changed their mind about their chosen course or university
- Have declined their firm or insurance choice
Clearing runs from 2 July to 19 October this year.
If you already have your results, there's no need to wait for Clearing; you can apply today to secure your place at NTU this September. There are several different ways you can apply for university after this January's UCAS deadline passed but before Clearing opens.
When Clearing opens, you won't be to apply until you have your results – but you can prepare. Getting ready now means you can apply quickly on results day.
On results day, you'll do the following things:
- Check your UCAS status (if you have a university offer)
- Get your results from your school or college
- Review your options
- Decide your next step
- Contact universities if you need to secure a place in Clearing
- Get your decision
