Introduction:

Please note: This course is delivered through the Enterprising Ashfield project, which is funded by the Government's Towns Fund. Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is pleased to offer free (fully funded) places on this course to support individuals and employees of businesses that are based in the towns of Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Sutton-in-Ashfield.

This two-day course offers a comprehensive journey into the world of ISO standards and Internal Auditing.

It is designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills to establish and enhance a Quality Management System within your organisation, ensuring adherence to ISO standards and fostering continuous improvement.

What you’ll study

You will explore the basics of ISO 9001 standards, the purpose and implementation of a Quality Management System, Risk-Based Thinking, Organisational Structure, KPIs and their impact, the PDCA cycle, and strategies for Internal Auditing.

During this course, you will:

  • understand the purpose of a quality management system
  • learn about the 8 principles of quality management
  • identify the main clauses of the ISO9001 standards
  • understand Risk-based thinking
  • complete a SWOT and STEEPLE analysis
  • understand Organisation Structures
  • understand the requirements of being an internal auditor
  • learn how to complete an effective process audit
  • recognise the different types of audits
  • understand the requirements for continuing professional development.

Engagement in a Design-Thinking Approach: Dive into ISO 9001 standard and the requirements of internal auditing with a curriculum that fosters discussion, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas in a community of like-minded professionals.

Personalised Learning Experience: With a limited class size, each participant receives individual attention, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills to apply the principles of ISO 9001 standard and the requirements of internal auditing within their business context.

Expert-Led Instruction: The course is delivered by experienced tutors who are also lead auditors with deep knowledge of ISO 9001 standards, Internal Auditing practices, and their application across various industries.

Certification: Upon successful completion, participants will receive an accredited certificate, affirming their understanding and capability to implement ISO 9001 standards and Internal Auditing practices.

How you’re taught

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll study during the course.

  • Session 1: Introduction to ISO 9001
  • Session 2: Understanding and Implementing a Quality Management System
  • Session 3: Risk-Based Thinking and Organisational Structure
  • Session 4: Understanding the requirements of internal auditing.

The course will be delivered in-person from the Summit Centre in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

You will receive 14 contact hours of quality tuition with an experienced tutor.

Tutor profile: Beth Rhodes

Beth is an experienced quality and compliance Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) and auditor with over 14 years’ experience in the training sector, currently leading the training division at Clear Quality.

She has developed training materials, systems, products, qualification standards, and specifications across a wide range of sectors, including management, logistics, customer service, retail, catering, hospitality, and administration.

Beth is responsible for overseeing quality, compliance, and development for the training and certification business. This includes the creation of training materials, products, systems, procedures, standards, and qualifications. Additionally, she manages the development of Learning Management Systems (LMS), SharePoint, and the operational procedures for her team, ensuring the highest standards of training, certification, and qualifications through rigorous auditing.

Entry requirement: This course is suitable for business owners, managers, and professionals across various industries, aiming to enhance their knowledge and application of ISO standards and Internal Auditing within their organisations. It serves as a foundational step towards achieving excellence in quality management and operational efficiency.

You must be over the age of 18 in order to attend this course.
