Introduction:

Please note: Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is pleased to offer free (fully funded) places on this course to support individuals and employees of businesses that are based in the towns of Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Sutton-in-Ashfield as part of the Enterprising Ashfield project.

The standard fee would normally be £250, and is available for non-eligible participants to book here.

What you’ll study

Who is it for?

This course is open to participants from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. It may be of particular interest to those working in human resource management and equality, diversity and inclusion specialist roles, but open to everyone interested in the topic.

The aims of the course

Fundamental to achieving inclusion is an awareness of the varied ways in which people differ in how they experience the world around them, including the workplace. This course aims to provide awareness of how each individual can be more aware and better equipped to support present or future neurodivergent colleagues into their team, organisation and to harness their unique talents.

Attending this course will support you to:

  • Understand the neurodiversity paradigm.
  • Acquire confidence in talking about neurodivergence.
  • Identify the strengths associated with neurodivergence.
  • Enable optimal contributions from neurodivergent colleagues.
  • Evaluate the neuro-inclusion climate within your team/s
  • Create an action plan for delivering improved neuroinclusion within your team.
  • Neurodiversity:  meaning, language and perspectives
  • Neurodivergence; conditions, strengths and challenges
  • Case study - disclosing at work
  • Hiring and progression – are your practices inclusive?

How you’re taught

Course content

This short course is delivered as a half day programme for anyone wanting to understand more about neurodiversity in the workplace in order to support their neurodivergent colleagues and team members.

Entry requirements

You must be over the age of 18 in order to attend this course.

To be eligible for a fully funded place, you must live or work in the towns of Kirkby-in-Ashfield or Sutton-in-Ashfield. To check if your home or work postcode is eligible visit the Enterprising Ashfield postcode checker page.
