Our wide range of health and fitness support is the perfect complement to the amazing sport facilities you'll find on and off campus.

From personal training to Boditrax, we've got the support you need to get the most out of your training, and our dedicated professional fitness instructors are on hand to offer any help you may need.

Our instructors are experts in a number of specialised areas, including:

  • flexibility and movement
  • resistance and weight training
  • sports performance, and much more.

Boditrax

Boditrax is a powerful software based package that scans the body and calculates body fat, muscle mass and more. The Boditrax kiosk is easy to use, just stand on the scales hold onto the handles and your results will be with you in seconds.

We offer Boditrax appointments with our qualified fitness instructors. See prices below:

  • £1.50 - one scan
  • £2 - four scans (have to be used within one month of purchase)
  • £20 - unlimited

One-to-one fitness packages

We offer one-to-one instructor-led sessions for a fraction of your average personal training price. There are three packages available, which are both led by our dedicated fitness instructors. Each package will include an initial assessment, a Boditrax scan and a personalised fitness programme.

Exercise induction

This appointment provides a complete induction for all the equipment in the fitness suite at NTU Sport. The exercise induction can take up to 60 minutes and is free for NTU Sport Active members.

Our fitness instructors

Niall Carson

Niall has a degree in BSc Strength, Conditioning and Rehabilitation and over 10 years’ experience within the fitness industry.

Niall is an approachable fitness instructor specialising in strength and power training, sport specific performance and prehabilitation.

He enjoys playing basketball and used to play at a national league level. His favourite exercises comprise of compound lifts, particularly back squat, barbell RDL’s, barbell bench press, barbell rows and barbell OHP.

Bella Winn

Bella holds a BSc degree in Exercise, Nutrition, and Health which she gained here at NTU. With both Level 2 Gym Instructor and Level 3 Personal Trainer qualifications under her belt, she’s fully equipped to help clients achieve their goals — whether that’s building strength, improving overall fitness, or creating healthy lifestyle habits that last.

Bella thrives on making a real difference in each client’s journey. Her approach is supportive, personalised, and rooted in evidence-based training and nutrition principles. Whether you’re new to the gym or looking to take your training to the next level, Bella is committed to helping you feel confident, strong, and empowered every step of the way.

Bella has a background in taekwondo, rock climbing and swimming as well as maintaining a direct link through NTU as she still is a member of the NTU women's football team. She always likes to keep herself active with her favourite exercises in the gym being deadlifts and bent over row.

Cassian Powell

Cassian is a fully qualified Personal Trainer, holding both Level 2 Gym Instructing and Level 3 Personal Training certifications. He also holds a BSc in Sports Coaching from the University of Derby and has achieved his Level 4 Strength & Conditioning qualification, allowing him to deliver high-level performance training for a wide range of athletes.

His approach is built on a solid foundation of both academic knowledge and real-world athletic experience. Specialising in strength training, Cassian works with individuals at all levels from grassroots to elite helping them build power, resilience, and athletic performance.

His background in competitive sport includes sprinting at Notts AC, where he achieved personal bests of 10.75s (100m) and 21.78s (200m), as well as playing football at Semi Professional Level. Cassian brings the mindset and discipline of an athlete to every session and reflects his passion for building real, functional strength.

Rosie Patten

With over 8 years of experience as a Level 3 qualified Personal Trainer, Rosie is passionate about helping clients develop a confident and consistent relationship with health and fitness.

Creating engaging and challenging programmes for a range of goals and abilities, Rosie enjoys helping clients to build muscle, athleticism, and confidence in the gym. Rosie has a background in acrobatics, cycling, and tennis, and her favourite gym exercises are pull ups and hip thrusts.

Gus Draude-Waters

Qualifications; level 2 fitness instructor, level 3 personal trainer, indoor cycle group exercise qualification.

He has worked in various gyms as an instructor for over 7 years. He has a wide range of knowledge to help you achieve goals of muscle building, weight/fat loss or strength increase. He’s currently studying to gain a qualification in level 4 strength and conditioning.

He exercises daily and enjoys pushing clients to their limits and helping people achieve their goals. His favourite exercises are pull ups and incline dumbbell press.
