More about Luke
“Before starting at NTU, I had a huge interest in Astrophysics, and understood the vast employment prospects associated with Physics degrees in general. Combining these two factors meant it made perfect sense to study my degree of choice!”
I would highly recommend Physics and Astrophysics as a degree, as it is hugely transferable and opens up many potential pathways for you. The lab facilities were great, as they were well staffed and equipped. The observatory on campus is particularly interesting to go and see!
Nottingham was a great place to live for the duration of my degree. It has a vibrant nightlife and plenty of places to go see and do things during your time off from your studies.
Transport to and from the campus (Clifton campus) is punctual and regular, so it’s easy to get to your lectures if you live off campus.
My lecturers throughout my 3 years at NTU were engaging and passionate about the subjects they taught, and offered support when needed. I found this support invaluable in not only excelling in my studies, but also in developing the skills I needed for employment prospects and the working environment.
I completed the Scientist Training Programme operated by the National School of Healthcare Science in 2018 and now work as a registered Clinical Scientist in Radiotherapy Physics at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
My advice for others is to look out for opportunities to advance your CV as much as possible, as this can really stand out when you can discuss experiences that fall outside of your course at interviews.
