  • Wednesday 25 February 2026 (16:00 GMT)

  • Wednesday 24 June 2026, 16:00 GMT - Final deadline

  2. Be classed as an overseas student for tuition fee purposes (‘international student’). Please visit ntu.ac.uk/scholarships for information on scholarships for UK students.

  3. If you are studying at an institution that has a partnership agreement with NTU you are eligible for either an NTU International Scholarship award (if your scholarship application is successful) or the Partner Progression Discount (the higher amount would be deducted from your tuition fees).
  4. If you are awarded a Scholarship by an external body, you can only be awarded an NTU International Scholarship award if the total combined amount of both awards is not higher than 50% of your first year’s tuition fees. Please check the Terms and Conditions of the external award to make sure any award from NTU would not impact your external award.
  5. Applicants may only apply for an NTU International Scholarship award once per academic year per offer of a place on a qualifying course.
  6. Applications received after 16:00 GMT (4 pm) on each deadline will automatically be considered for the next available deadline. For example, application forms submitted after the first deadline and before the second deadline, will be considered for the second deadline.

  10. If you receive an award for each year of study, the award will be deducted from your tuition fee at the start of each year. You must successfully complete each year of the course to continue to receive this. Scholarships are not applied when a placement year is undertaken but will resume for your final year of study.
  11. NTU Scholarship awards can be transferred between courses within the same academic School and academic year. In the case of a 50% Excellence award your scholarship would be reviewed by the course team for your new course. Scholarships cannot be transferred to a different academic School or academic year.
  12. Applicants will be informed whether they have (or have not) been awarded an NTU International Scholarship award (and of the value of the scholarship award if they have been awarded) within five weeks of the application deadline.
  13. The scholarship will be applied to your tuition fee when you accept your scholarship offer, accept and meet the conditions of your course offer and you are eligible to enrol on your course.

If you fail to complete your course and the scholarship was not applied (i.e., you did not pay the tuition fees, or the tuition fees were reimbursed) and you choose to retake the course or undertake another eligible course you may re-apply for a scholarship provided you still meet the eligibility criteria. Consideration of any new scholarship application will be in accordance with the stated criteria and there is no guarantee that the application will be successful.

Scholarship Application Advice

Our scholarships are competitive so it is important to make yourself stand out from the crowd. Here are some of our top tips for completing your application:

  • Spend good time on the application – you only have 500 words so make sure you use them wisely.
  • Express your interests and your achievements - we want to know all about you and your goals for the future. We aren't looking for perfect grades, we just want to hear your authentic voice.
  • Believe in yourself – you are good enough to apply so why not give it a go.

You may be tempted to use AI tools for your scholarship essay. Our advice:

  • Do - Use AI tools to help you check spelling or to edit and refine your essay.
  • Don't - Use AI tools to create your essay. We want to hear your authentic voice and this is an important part of the marking criteria.

If you are applying for a merit-based award only, you don't need to complete the full application. Just fill in your personal details and tick the box stating you wish to be considered for the Merit-based Awards.

The most valuable lesson I learned is that winning a scholarship doesn't just depend on getting the highest grades; it depends on having the courage to tell your story. The university isn't looking for a perfect person; it's looking for a genuine individual with a clear vision. Take the first small step of writing your story, and don't let the fear of competition stop you from pursuing your future at NTU.

Nicolas Nieto, Colombia

"I felt satisfaction when I was awarded a scholarship and this was fundamental for me to take the decision to move here and start the programme. It’s not particularly difficult to apply for a scholarship, my main advice is to start preparation and paperwork in advance, read your statements and find the motivation to apply for it."

Rucsandra Moldoveanu, Romania

"Winning a scholarship gave me confidence that if you really want something, you can get it as long as you show a keen interest. Being awarded the scholarship scheme has been a great financial help!"

Yash Sureshbhai Shah, India

"Being a scholarship winner motivated me to excel academically, knowing I had the support of the university. It enriched my university experience and instilled a sense of responsibility to make the most of my education. Like a cherry on top, NTU scholars have a special ceremony and it feels immensely special for any student."

Frequently asked questions about NTU scholarships

Once you have an academic offer for a course at Nottingham Trent, you can apply through our simple application form on our website.

  • Believe in yourself – you are good enough to apply so why not give it a go.

Your application must be written and completed by you. We cannot accept scholarship applications written by ChatGPT or other AI technologies as our scholarships are awarded based on your individual skills and merit.

We have a range of International Scholarship available that you can apply for. These range from £2,000 to 50% off your tuition fees.

We also have some external scholarships available that are run in collaboration with NTU. These include the British Council Scholarship and Chevening Scholarship among others.

More details can be found on our webpages or through your own research.

No. We want to hear your authentic voice and personality in your writing, not an AI Generated version. If your chosen AI platform offers to help, don't be tempted. Statements that are obviously written by AI, and not your original work, may not be considered by the awarding committee.

We offer multiple application deadlines throughout the year and the results of your scholarship will be shared around 3 weeks after each deadline.

We always list the deadlines on the scholarships page and will indicate when the final scholarship deadline for the academic year is to ensure you have an opportunity to apply. You can only apply as a prospective student who has yet to begin their studies at NTU.

We offer several criteria-based awards which allows you to just fill in a few simple personal details so we can verify your application. Provided you meet the criteria, these will be awarded to you without needing to complete the scholarship essay.

If you would like to be considered for all our awards, you can choose to fill in the entire application form including the 500 word scholarship essay. You may be awarded a scholarship worth up to 50% of your tuition fees.

The majority of our scholarships are competitive and so are awarded based on the essay you provide. This must be written by you and share information about your achievements, your goals and any interests.

You will need to contact the international team with the details of your award and which course you will now be studying. We will then review your scholarship to see if it can be applied to your new course.

Unfortunately you are not allowed to use your scholarship to make your advance payment. If you are awarded a scholarship from NTU, this will only be applied to your tuition fee records once you have enrolled. This means you need to have met all of the conditions of your offer, including the advance payment, before you receive your scholarship.

If you are deferring your academic course from a September to January intake, we can honour your scholarship for the same course. If you are changing course, please contact the international team.

If you are deferring to the following academic year, you will not be able to defer your scholarship. You will need to reapply for the international Scholarship Scheme for the new intake.

Kindly note a previous award does not guarantee a future award. Each application is considered against the round it is submitted in.

Unfortunately, we cannot reconsider any applications once a decision has been made. Students can only apply once each academic year so make sure you include all details and information you wish the panel to know about in your sole application. Please do not use the personal statement submitted for your academic application for your scholarship application.

No, we only offer scholarships to students who have yet to begin their studies at NTU. As a current student you can check with your course team to find out if they offer any subject-specific scholarships. If you are struggling with your finances you can read some helpful information on our website.

Your scholarship will be a reduction to your tuition fees. Scholarships are normally applied when your CAS is issued but may not show on your finance record until you fully enrol and start your course.

To enrol you must choose to either pay the balance in full, or in two instalments on the dates stated in the enrolment portal. Your scholarship will be split between these two payments and not just discounted from the first payment. Please budget accordingly.
