Introduction:
Combines the theory and practice of engineering with the study of business and resource-based management, entrepreneurial leadership, new business ventures and small-to-medium enterprises.
This Engineering Management postgraduate degree has been designed to meet the increasing demand for postgraduates with an understanding of the application of business and management knowledge in the industrial and engineering sectors.
If you're looking to work in engineering and technology industries, this is a great fast-track conversion course for graduates from disciplines unrelated to engineering and computing.

What you’ll study
The course will crucially provide you with a master's level education in the theory and practice of engineering management, integrating aspects of resource based management, engineering, leadership, change and enterprise, with particular emphasis on new business ventures and small business enterprise.
Group Design Project (20 cp)
During this module, you will focus mainly on the technical aspects of developing a cross-disciplinary group design project. The set projects will be taken from areas of advancing technology.
Business Operations and Reliability Management (20 cp)
This module will build on your understanding of operations and reliability management and the interaction of fundamental factors within operating business systems supplying goods upon demand.
Global Business Management (20 cp)
This module includes global business enterprises, global supply chain management, international marketing and the strategic importance of integrated marketing, design, finance, manufacturing and distribution.
Entrepreneurial Leadership and Project Management (20 cp)
You will develop your appreciation of entrepreneurship and leadership and their role in economic development, project management and entrepreneurial business success. You will learn the tools and methodologies for effective project management.
New Business Venture (20 cp)
Alongside gaining an awareness of the concepts of business opportunity, planning and strategy for the entrepreneurial firm in an industrial context, you will develop the ability to research, create and evaluate a business plan.
Research Methods (20 cp)
The research methods elements of this module will focus on literature searching and critical reviewing strategies, ethical considerations, research design, sampling and quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis techniques using applicable software tools.
Individual Industrial or Research Project (60 cp)
This module is the “capstone” project in which you will combine the knowledge, understanding and skills you have developed. You will investigate an engineering problem, implement solutions, critically evaluate and reflect on your work, and develop your abilities to communicate, self-organise and manage. The CPD component of this module will inform your learning journey throughout your MSc and after.

The school of Science and Technology will work closely with you to help you find a placement and strengthen your CV and interview techniques. You'll be supported and assessed throughout your placement year and will write a reflective report and diary at the end of your placement. When you complete your placement and submit your placement report, you will be eligible to receive an additional Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Practice award.
Please note that placements are not guaranteed and the process is competitive through an application and interview process.
If you take the sandwich route, you will take a one-year work placement after the first three terms before returning to NTU the following year to start your research project.
Our recent students have taken placements across various companies, including Active Plan Consulting, Suman Chemical Industries and Techplus Solutions. They secured varied roles such as Software Engineer, Cloud Operations Officer and Business Analyst.

- Applicants with relevant employment experience or qualifications will also be considered.
We specify these minimum entry requirements, but we will assess you individually on your ability to benefit from the course. We sometimes offer places on the basis of non-standard entry qualifications, and industrial or professional experience.
NTU may admit a student with advanced standing beyond the beginning of a course, through an assessment of that student's prior learning, whether it is certificated or uncertificated. Our Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer Policy outlines the process and options available to these prospective students, such as recognising experiential learning or transferring to a similar course at another institution, otherwise known as credit transfer.
All prospective students who wish to apply via Recognition of Prior Learning should initially contact the central Admissions and Enquiries Team who will be able to support you through the process.
