SQE 1 & 2 Preparation Course (LLM)
Congratulations on receiving an offer to study on the LLM SQE 1 & 2 Preparation course at Nottingham Law School. We’ve designed our SQE courses to equip you with the skills and knowledge to prepare you to sit the SQE1 and SQE2 SRA centralised assessments, and also to provide you with the practical knowledge and skills employers regard as essential in the current legal market.
You will develop an understanding of the law and practice in key legal areas and you will have many opportunities to develop and practice your legal skills, both of which you will use once you have qualified as a solicitor. Additional opportunities are available through our multi-award winning on-campus law firm, NLS Legal, where you can get involved in pro bono work, working on real cases and offering legal advice to the public.
We look forward to welcoming you at enrolment.

Useful course information
- You will be required to attend induction events at the start of your course.
- Workshops are compulsory. They’re very different to traditional tutorials – your group will be divided into subgroups and you will carry out practical legal tasks very similar to those you’d encounter in a solicitor’s office. The intention of these sessions is to use realistic simulated scenarios to instil knowledge and legal skills and allow you to apply them.
- You will also be required to attend assessments during the academic year. You will receive notice of these dates in advance.
- You must complete preparatory reading, and revision of your seven foundation subjects before the course starts. Details of the preparatory work required will be available once you have accepted a place.
- Learning resources and timetables are online so a laptop (with a working microphone and webcam) is essential for your studies. You will also need wifi at home.
- In-person attendance on campus at workshops is compulsory.
Once you’ve met all conditions you should enrol online. Please do this before the start of your course. The provisional start date for your course is as follows:
Full time course - 7 September 2026
Part time course – 19 September 2026
Finalised dates will be confirmed in due course.
Please contact us via Ask NTU if you wish to defer your place.
Our offer is based on the assumption that, when you made your application, you disclosed any disability that might affect the way in which we deliver the course or assess you.
In such a case, we will either:
- agree with you that the disability will require no special facilities, or
- meet you to discuss what facilities will be necessary.
If you have a disability but have not yet disclosed it, we need to hear from you immediately so that we can evaluate your needs and determine what adjustments we are able to make to accommodate those needs. Please contact Student Support Services by emailing Student Support.
Please note that if you are a current student at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) and you already have adjustments through Student Support Services for your current course, these adjustments will not automatically be carried forward on to your SQE preparation course. You will need to contact Student Support Services as soon as possible so a fresh evaluation can be made to accommodate your needs.
As a postgraduate student, you can apply for University accommodation. To guarantee yourself a place, you should apply and pay your deposit before the end of May.
International students are required to make an advance payment. Click here to find out more about paying your fees: how and when to pay your fees.
Nottingham Law School is delighted to offer a number of generous scholarships and loyalty schemes to students starting in September, including:
