Home student enrolment

Whether you’re new to NTU, or returning, please follow these steps to complete your enrolment with us as a home undergraduate or postgraduate student.

A step-by-step guide

New students

Your NTU ID number is in the email that you will receive when your place at NTU is confirmed.

Your NTU ID will look like this: N0123456.

Your password

Follow the "get or reset password" link on our enrolment page to get your password.

Once you have your password, log in using this along with your NTU ID to complete your online enrolment.

You will be able to see any outstanding enrolment actions and advice on how to resolve these on your enrolment summary page. Make sure all elements of your enrolment are ticked as ‘complete’, including your fee payment and any holds you may have applied to your record.

If you’ve arranged to pay your tuition fees through Student Finance, make sure that your funding is approved. Take a look at our funding checklist for more information.

Students receiving the PG loan will have to pay their own fees directly to the University. You'll be able to make payment arrangements for your fees and check your instalment dates after completing your online enrolment.

Check out our student finance and enrolment frequently asked questions.

You can also visit our UK Student Finance Help Desk over the enrolment period.

Head to our photo upload portal to complete the process of ordering your NTU Student Card. You’ll find a link to the portal once you get to the enrolment summary page.

The last day to order your card online will be 4 September 2025. This will ensure student cards will be printed for your arrival from 12 September onwards.

After 4 September 2025, you will no longer need to upload a photo, and you will be able to collect your student card in person at NTU.

This includes those students starting courses in January 2026.

Your photo must be:

  • A head and shoulder shot,
  • unaltered by computer software,
  • in colour,
  • well lit (not too bright, not too dark),
  • taken against a neutral background,
  • taken recently (within the last three months),
  • clear and in focus.

Once you've successfully uploaded your passport-style photo, your NTU Student Card will be printed and available at your NTU/UPP Hall of Residence.

If you are not in NTU/UPP accommodation, it will be available at your preferred collection point on campus.

Once you pick up your NTU Student Card, you will need to activate it – please do this as soon as possible.

Your student card is your University ID Card for the duration of your studies. It also gives you access to University buildings, enables printing and photocopying, and it can be used as a cash card within NTU.

Instructions on how to activate your NTU Student Card will be provided in the enclosed letter with your card. Please activate your card as soon as you pick it up.

Your card gives you access to:

  • University buildings
  • printers and photocopiers, and
  • can be used as a cash card across NTU’s campuses.

If you’ve applied for a maintenance loan from your UK national Student Finance Service, you’ll need to be fully enrolled and have activated your Student Card in order for the University to confirm your registration to the Student Loans Company to release your payment – so make sure you’ve done everything you need to!

After 4 September 2025, all new Student Cards will be produced face-to-face onsite at NTU by Card Services, and will be automatically activated. This includes those students’ starting courses in January 2026.

View the full list of Card Services FAQs together with the Terms and Conditions.

When you complete your online enrolment, confirm if you wish to register with a University Student Health Centre. We strongly recommend that you register with a doctor close to where you live – as a student living in Nottingham, you must be registered in order for you to receive treatment for any illness while you are at university. Don't wait until you feel ill or need a repeat prescription.

For those living on/near campus:

For Mansfield and London, or students living further from campus, you can find a local medical practice that is convenient for you.

The University practices provide services including:
  • Appointments with a doctor, practice nurse or health care assistant,
  • sexual health and contraception advice,
  • new patient and general health checks,
  • asthma checks,
  • blood pressure checks,
  • screening for sexually transmitted infections,
  • blood tests,
  • travel advice and immunisation,
  • vaccinations,
  • breast examination advice,
  • stitch removal,
  • dietary advice,
  • employment and insurance medicals,
  • emergencies out of hours.
Medical emergencies

If you have an urgent medical problem outside of surgery hours, you can:

Find further information and guidance on how to register at a local GP practice, book an appointment with your GP, and order repeat prescriptions online here. You can also visit the NHS website.

Don't forget to check that you are up to date with all your vaccinations such as Meningitis ACWY, which is recommended and free for all new students under the age of 25.

Registering with a dentist

It is important to register with a local dentist when living in Nottingham. You can surgeries using the NHS Service Search. You may also be eligible for discounted NHS dental charges by applying for a HC2 or HC3 form – learn more about the NHS Low Income scheme here.

Returning students

You’ll receive an "invitation to enrol" to your NTU email address. Go to our enrolment portal and log in using your NTU ID and password.

Please ensure that your personal contact details and emergency contact information is up to date.

If you have arranged to pay your tuition fees through Student Finance, make sure your funding is approved. Take a look at our funding checklist for more information.

If you're paying your tuition fees directly to the University, you'll be able to make payment arrangements for your fees and check your instalment dates after completing your online enrolment.
