International student enrolment

Whether you’re new to NTU, or returning, please follow these steps to complete your enrolment with us as an international undergraduate or postgraduate student.

Step-by-step guide for new students

Your NTU ID number is in the email that you will receive when your place at NTU is confirmed.

Your NTU ID will look like this: N0123456 or T0123456.

Your password

Follow the "get or reset password" link on our enrolment page to get your password. When prompted to input a postcode, use NG1 4BU.

Once you have your password, log in using this along with your NTU ID to complete your online enrolment.

Your enrolment will be in two stages: online and then in person at the International Enrolment Event to complete your passport and visa checks.

You will be able to see any outstanding enrolment actions and advice on how to resolve these on your enrolment summary page. Make sure all elements of your enrolment are ticked as ‘complete’, including your fee payment and any holds you may have applied to your record.

Your 'Passport and Visa check' can only be completed when you arrive on campus. For these you should attend the International Enrolment Event.

You must book an appointment to attend the International Enrolment Event in-person. You will need to provide your passport and visa documents to prove your right to study. Complete the booking form.

You'll need to pay your tuition fees in full or have set up to pay in two instalments. These must be paid by the agreed deadlines in order to fully enrol on your course. You can do this before you arrive as part of the online enrolment process. If you choose to set up two instalments, no money will be taken out of your account until the first payment date. All dates can be found on our website.

There can be no amendments to the dates on your payment plan.

We recommend that you set up a UK bank account when you arrive. If you wish, you can then amend which bank account you use to make your payments by following our advice on making a payment.

You'll also find payment advice for international students and advice and guidance for sponsored students online.

For students progressing from Nottingham Trent International College you will need to pay your tuition fees in full or can set up to pay in three instalments and follow all of the advice above.

Once you have completed your enrolment, please go to your closest location below to get your NTU student card printed out:

  • City Campus – Ask NTU hub
  • Clifton Campus – Ask NTU hub
  • Brackenhurst Campus – Brackenhurst Library
  • NTU Mansfield – Mansfield Library

This card will be printed out fully activated and ready to use across our campuses.

Your card gives you access to:

  • University buildings
  • printers and photocopiers
  • it can also be used as a cash card across NTU’s campuses.

View the full list of Card Services FAQs together with the Terms and Conditions.

When you complete your online enrolment, confirm if you wish to register with a University Student Health Centre. We strongly recommend that you register with a doctor close to where you live – as a student living in Nottingham, you must be registered in order to receive treatment for any illness while you are at university. Don't wait until you feel ill or need a repeat prescription.

All international students have access to NHS healthcare after paying the NHS healthcare surcharge. This will have been paid as part of the visa application process and entitles you to free healthcare on the NHS. You will need to register with a GP practice when you arrive.

For those living on/near campus:

For Mansfield and London, or students living further from campus, you can find a local medical practice that is convenient for you.

The University practices provide services including:
  • Appointments with a doctor, practice nurse or health care assistant,
  • sexual health and contraception advice,
  • new patient and general health checks,
  • asthma checks,
  • blood pressure checks,
  • screening for sexually transmitted infections,
  • blood tests,
  • travel advice and immunisation,
  • vaccinations,
  • breast examination advice,
  • stitch removal,
  • dietary advice,
  • employment and insurance medicals,
  • emergencies out of hours.
Medical emergencies

If you have an urgent medical problem outside of surgery hours, you can:

Find further information and guidance on how to register at a local GP practice, book an appointment with your GP, and order repeat prescriptions online here. You can also visit the NHS website. Don't forget to check that you are up to date with all your vaccinations, such as Meningitis ACWY, which is recommended and free for all new students under the age of 25.

Registering with a dentist

It is important to register with a local dentist when living in Nottingham. You can surgeries using the NHS Service Search.

Step-by-step guide for returning students

You’ll receive an invitation to enrol at your NTU email address.

After this, go to our enrolment portal and log in using your NTU ID and password.

Security

To protect against a cybersecurity incident, we had to reset passwords for all NTU accounts in July 2025. If you haven’t yet reset your password, please visit our online password service to find instructions on how to do this. Please also ensure that your personal contact details and emergency contact information are up to date.

You'll be able to make payment arrangements for your fees and check your instalment dates after completing your online enrolment.

International Student Enrolment Event

All students subject to immigration control must attend our International Enrolment Event to complete enrolment. This is where we will carry out checks of your passport, visa and entry to the UK (flight information). There will also be an opportunity to discuss your tuition fee payments, ask our team any questions you might have, and collect your NTU student card.

eVisa

All new arrivals need to provide an eVisa as part of their enrolment. An eVisa is an online record of your immigration status and the conditions of your permission to enter or stay in the UK.

To access your eVisa, you need to create a UKVI account or sign into your account if you already have one. You must do this yourself, and it cannot be completed by an International Agent. You must also ensure that your details are up-to-date and accurate.

Please register your eVisa account before attending the Enrolment Event.

Once you have your eVisa, and attend the International Enrolment Event, you will need to:

  • access the ‘View and Prove’ service within the UKVI account,
  • select the ‘Something else’ option to generate a unique share code.

Provide your passport, Visa Decision Email, share code and flight evidence to staff at the International Enrolment Event to prove your Right to Study in the UK.

Visas under consideration

If you have made an application for a new visa from within the UK and it is currently under consideration by the Home Office, you can still complete enrolment. To do this, you will need to provide:

  • Your Passport
  • Evidence of your current visa and Right to Study in the UK (normally an eVisa or BRP)
  • Evidence of your recently completed application and proof of submission to the Home Office

The University will temporarily accept this as your Right to Study in the UK and will then contact you at a later period to gain your new valid eVisa.

International Enrolment opening times

You need to book an appointment slot for your visa and passport checks. Please do this by visiting our International Enrolment Event booking system.

It can take up to one hour to complete your in-person enrolment. At times it can be busy and you may need to wait to see our staff.

Please note, if you arrive outside of our opening times you should visit your nearest Student Services Centre to show your documents for enrolment. Check their opening times on StudentHub to ensure you arrive at a time when someone will be able to help you.

We recommend that you complete online enrolment steps before you attend enrolment in person. Please refer to the instructions above for this.
