The Athena SWAN Charter promotes good practices in supporting and advancing the careers of women and underrepresented groups in academia. Achieving the Bronze Award reflects the School’s dedication to creating an inclusive environment where all staff and students can thrive.
As part of the award process, NBS undertook a comprehensive self-assessment and developed an ambitious action plan to enhance equality, diversity, and inclusion.
The Athena SWAN review panel commended NBS for its proactive approach in tackling key challenges, highlighting two areas of best practice:
- The introduction of NBS Well-Being Champions, providing dedicated support for well-being and mental health.
- A robust policy review process, ensuring continuous improvements in policies and procedures that promote equality and fairness.
Professor Baback Yazdani, Executive Dean of Nottingham Business School, expressed his pride in the award:
“This recognition reflects our commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all staff and students. Our Athena SWAN action plan will drive more meaningful change, and we are determined to build on this success to ensure equity, diversity and inclusion is embedded in everything we do.”
The School’s action plan will be reviewed regularly to measure progress and refine initiatives that foster an inclusive culture.
