KH Interiors

KH Interiors was introduced to the NBS Student Consultancy Projects team during 2023 via the Enterprising Ashfield programme; a part-funded initiative for businesses delivered by NTU in partnership with Ashfield District Council.

While undergoing a review of its business the company was interested in consultancy support provided by NBS students. Company founder, Keren-happuch Shumba, subsequently tasked a team of MSc Management students to carry out a market and competitor analysis, asking them to provide insights that might help the business establish and carve out its niche. More insight was also sought into the viability of offering online interior design services and other potential development opportunities for the business.

Keren was happy with how easy it was to agree a brief with NBS staff and found later communication with the academic staff involved in the project went very smoothly. She said, “Having meeting dates that worked around my business helped a lot. Communication during the project was straightforward.”

The student’s work led to a report that included useful market statistics, customer insights and identification of a new market segment particularly in the area of home staging. Keren was impressed; “The main benefits were the in-depth research that the students put in, highlighting opportunities for growth and even suggesting marketing platforms that would be ideal for my ideal audience.”

As a result of the students’ work and recommendations, Keren has started posting more consistently on social media platforms and plans to start sharing project tours on Youtube.

When asked about the impact of the project on the development of the business Keren said,

“The project provided an opportunity to have fresh eyes looking at my business and identify potential opportunities that I might have missed. I feel honoured to have been a part of this consultancy project it’s provided a lot of helpful information that will serve KH Interiors for years to come.”
