The Institute of Crime, Media, Journalism and Justice within the School of Social Science at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) builds student expertise by working with communities, cutting edge technology and a embedded commitment to understanding society, transforming lives' and ensuring the voiceless have a voice.
Our courses centre on the ethos of developing intellectual and practical skills, adding value to students’ employability and providing an outstanding student experience. Our facilities include a forensic house, newsroom, digital radio suites, a dedicated TV studio, top of the range sound and visual equipment and a prison cell. All of our courses engage subject professionals and industry partners to develop a community of the future.

COPE contributes to the understanding of victimisation risk and crime harm, the transformation agenda for change in the Criminal Justice System, and community engagement with crime prevention.
Intersectional Social Justice Research Group
To advance interdisciplinary, intersectional research that critically examines how overlapping systems of identity and inequality shape experiences of justice and injustice across local and global contexts.
Hate Crime Research Group
Set up in September 2023, the Hate Crime Research Group aims to contribute to academic knowledge on hate crime, and inform policy and practice in order to tackle the problem of hate crime.
Centre for Research in Literature Linguistics and Culture
The Centre for Research in Literature, Linguistics and Culture is a multi- and interdisciplinary hub that promotes research innovation across Literary Studies, Linguistics, and Media, Film and TV Studies.
Media and Film Cultures
The Media and Film Cultures Research Group engages with creative and innovative approaches to contemporary critical theory and cultural studies with particular focus on film, media, arts, gender/sexuality, and commons/commoning.
