Overview

The Work Futures Observatory exists to strengthen collaboration between the GMB Union and academic researchers. Established in August 2024, the Observatory will publish a research agenda informed by the needs of the GMB and coordinate research and knowledge exchange to benefit workers, trade union practices and associated areas of public policy.

The GMB Union represents half a million workers in the UK, across diverse parts of the private and public sectors, from warehouses to social care, schools, the NHS, delivery and private hire, security, local authorities, and more, and aims to advance workers' rights and equality.

The Observatory’s core work is supported by NTU’s:

Centre for Policy, Citizenship and Society

Centre for Public and Psychosocial Health

Centre for People, Work and Organizational Practice

Nottingham Civic Exchange
