Book of condolences - Dr Emmanuel Amissah
The University understands how difficult it can be when we lose someone close to us. We have opened up this online book of condolence to bring together tributes.
If you would like to offer your condolences or pay tribute you are invited to leave a message on this page.
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our colleague Dr Emmanuel Amissah, Principal Lecturer in Economics at Nottingham Business School, where he worked for thirteen years.
Emmanuel will be known to many colleagues as the course leader for the UG Economics suite, an invaluable member of the Economics department and an excellent researcher in the areas of financial development, economic growth and international trade.
Emmanuel was a pleasure to work with, always smiling and so focused on doing the best for his students and his colleagues. Emmanuel forged strong links with alumni and regularly held events to build a strong and cohesive economics UG community, sharing insight and connecting people. He was a natural leader and advocate for others. Alongside building a strong Economics community, Emmanuel was also a great researcher, using his work for the greater good and for supporting communities. He made his research accessible to students through his teaching and practice.
Emmanuel was passionate about his work at NBS supporting students to give their best and to be their best. Emmanuel took a genuine interest in his students, offering guidance, encouragement and mentorship well beyond the classroom. A supportive colleague, he inspired confidence in those around him and was always ready with words of encouragement. He will be so very missed and his loss leaves a void in NBS and NTU, both professionally and personally.
Dr Emmanuel Amissah was also a Pastor at the Harvest Chapel International Pentecostal Church in Nottingham. He served as a volunteer trustee and led the Blessing Wheels team, ensuring vital support reached the community week after week. He gave generously of his time and energy, leaving a lasting impact through his kindness, commitment, and unwavering dedication to others.
His family has asked to share the online dedication hosted by the Church if you also wish to leave a message there.
God Bless you Emmanuel, may you rest in peace.

I always enjoyed seeing Emmanuel, whether in an Economics Course Committee meeting, setting up sessions for the students, or chatting outside Newton. He was a lovely man, kind, patient, and I'm very saddened by his loss. I hope his family and friends can take solace in how highly regarded he was by those who worked with him, including those of us from outside NBS. He will be missed by many of us.
