Book of condolences - Oshada Jayasundera
The University understands how difficult it can be when we lose someone close to us. We have opened up this online book of condolence to bring together tributes.
If you would like to offer your condolences or pay tribute you are invited to leave a message on this page.

Oshada was a highly engaged and committed student, contributing fully to all the classroom activities. He was very well respected by his peers and his tutors and looked out for and supported others across the postgraduate community.
His compassion, concern and kindness shone through, which made him such a special member of the course. He was ambitious for himself and others, with a smile that could light up a room. He had many friends across both the Nottingham Business School and the Global Lounge. He will be very missed by all that knew him.
Our condolences to his family, friends and tutors at this difficult time.
In the realm of school days, Oshada was not just a childhood friend but a beacon of joy, a companion in laughter, and a partner in shared meals. Our days were painted with the hues of playful escapades, echoing with the carefree laughter that only true camaraderie can cultivate.
Oshada’s helping mind was a testament to the essence of friendship. Always ready to lend a hand or offer a listening ear, their caring nature was a reassuring presence in the tapestry of our shared experiences. In the simplicity of schoolyard games, we discovered the profound beauty of friendship – a bond forged in the innocence of youth.
Beyond the classroom walls, Oshada’s friendly spirit cast a warmth that enveloped our shared memories. Whether it was navigating the challenges of school projects or reveling in the triumphs of our small victories, their unwavering support was a cornerstone of our shared journey.
As the pages of time turn, the echoes of our childhood escapades remain etched in the corridors of my heart. Oshada’s love and friendship continue to resonate, a timeless melody that transcends the years. Though the chapter may have closed, the imprint of their caring, loving presence endures, a cherished legacy that will forever linger in the corridors of my memories.
Rest in peace my friend. Your missed in all the time we have.
The whole batch of 2011 of Trinity misses you.
Some times the heaven is also lack of good people and thats why you have been wanted by god to heaven.

Our friendship started over a broken blind in the library and Boks 🇿🇦 winning the World Cup.
I remember we laughed together over his nickname OJ as it was short for orange juice.
Oshada was a hard working student that went above and beyond. He had a contagious smile and made sure to say hi whenever he saw me.
My deepest condolences for the loss of the kindhearted, thoughtful, supportive and humorous Oshada. Wishing his family strength and comfort during this difficult time.

I worked with Oshada in Boots Library. He was always in there working so hard on his coursework. On the days when he wasn't on shift he would still greet you at the gates going in and out the library. He had such a happy soul always smiling, even when he was working hard and was tired he always remained positive. He used to sit at the info desk when it was closed and helped students with queries. He was always happy to help anyone. It was a pleasure to have known and worked with him. He will be truly missed, be at peace Oshada.

Oshada worked at the NTU library, and we often chatted when we swapped shifts. He was always cheerful and smiling and we shared several jokes about the cold English weather, he seemed to be enjoying wearing a hat, scarf and gloves. It is a pleasure to have met him and I send my deepest condolences to his family and hope they can find some comfort knowing that he touched many lives in a warm, positive way.

There are no words to express the shock and sadness that I feel, following the loss of the wonderful Oshada. I did not know Oshada for long, but I had the pleasure of working with him at Boots Library. Oshada worked late nights and weekend shifts, and I knew if Oshada was on shift, the library would be in a safe pair of hands. Even if Oshada didn't have a shift and was studying in the library, he would always pop down to the desk to say hi and have a chat. A real reflection of his lovely and friendly nature. I will miss your smiley face around the library. I am sending my love to his family and friends.

Oshada Jayasundera or OJ, as we all knew him was a close and dear friend. Even though I wasn't in the same cohort as him his presence throughout the course as positive, fun, and the same time dedicated was known by all. Every time I met him, he greeted me with the most joyful smile. Even during the time of submission when I would be spending countless nights in the library, just seeing him there working hard with a smile just gave me a sense of happiness which I don't think I will ever get it again but let us not delve into it. OJ when I first met him I told him that it is impossible to find anyone from the place I live and within minutes he introduced me to someone from my hometown I was totally blown away by how fast he was able to connect with people and make them feel safe. But just like how he was compassionate with his friends and colleagues he was a dedicated and driven student from the way he would listen to one of the few lectures we shared to how he would ask me questions, it just made me know he had a dream to be one of the best project managers we would see. Thank you OJ for being my classmate and ever-loving friend. I will miss you from the bottom of my heart, the memories I had with you will be forever etched within me.

I got to know him through our group project, though I was in a cohort different from his, with his friends as part of my group. I could tell from an exchange of pleasantries and his smile how friendly he was. Words are not enough to describe him, pains and sorrows flood the heart. A gem was taken untimely. May his soul rest in peace.

Oshada, affectionately called OJ, was an uplifting and inspiring personality in our class. His positive energy was particularly memorable during the APM Simulation event at DoubleTree by Hilton in Milton Keynes. A vivid memory is our journey back to the bus station when we decided to walk, following my suggestion to save on cab fare. This led to us losing our way. Despite my growing weariness and the increasing anxiety of the group, OJ kept our spirits high. Eventually, we managed to hail a cab to the bus station at a reduced price. OJ's kindness, thoughtfulness, and passion for his team and objectives were always apparent. I have countless cherished memories of him, from absorbing his insightful questions and contributions in classes to collaborating in workshops and field trips. His unique focus on achieving his career objective was admirable. OJ’s presence was always delightful, and his absence will be profoundly felt.
If only we could turn back the hands of time, we would alter some events. Nonetheless, I hope and pray for comfort for his bereaved family during this difficult time and for eternal peace for his soul.

In the brief time spent with Oshada (Oshii Poshii), I've cherished countless beautiful memories with him. He promised me a birthday note, assuring it would be more adorable than a five-year-old's, and little did I anticipate that I would find myself writing a tribute to him after his departure. On Christmas, he graciously invited me to his home to cook Indian food, showcasing his love for the cuisine. The joy of preparing meals for him remains a cherished memory, and I deeply regret not having more opportunities to do so.
Professionally, Oshada was not only exceptional in his role but personally, he was a true gem. His daily texts and calls reflected a genuine connection, as if we had known each other for years. The void left by his absence is palpable, and thoughts of him persistently linger. I yearn for more time with him and will keep him in my prayers until our paths cross again on the other side. The pain his family must be enduring is unimaginable, and my heartfelt wishes go out to them for finding comfort and strength during this challenging time. Oshii, you will be profoundly missed.

On a personal level, he was simply a very nice guy who was eager to show his care and compassion for others. He will be missed!
