Book of condolences - Ruth Vincent
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our colleague Ruth Vincent.
The University understands how difficult it can be when we lose someone close to us. We have opened up this online book of condolence to bring together tributes for Ruth.
If you would like to offer your condolences or pay tribute you are invited to leave a message on this page.

Ruth has worked at the University for over 21 years, and in that time has touched so many people with her warmth, humour and gentle disposition.
Ruth was a loyal colleague, who always had time to listen. She approached work with a calm, unflappable manner and was always keen to make sure her team were supported, prepared and able to succeed.
Outside work, Ruth successfully juggled the busy demands of being a mum and a very proficient photographer. We are privileged to have some of her wonderful photos on the walls of 56 Terrace Royal at NTU.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ruth. She will be so fondly remembered.

I still can't believe that Ruth is no longer with us. I really miss her presence in our team. She was always there - very approachable, thoughtful and supportive team leader, and encouraged me to aim high. I will miss our talks about life, kids and family. My deepest thoughts and sincere prayers are with Erin, Jack, Andrew and the rest of the family.

Ruth was a lovely, gentle person who was a joy to spend time with over the years we worked in the same department. Always calm and good-humoured and generous with her time, she will be greatly missed by so many people. My heart goes out to Ruth's family and friends especially her partner and children; she spoke about you with such love and pride. I am so sorry for your loss x

Ruth was an absolutely wonderful colleague, compassionate and caring. When I first joined the university she warmly welcomed me into the Quality Management team, always making the effort to check in and to get to know me on a personal level. She would always reach out and nothing was ever too much trouble which I whole heartedly appreciated. She went above and beyond to enable me to bring a guide dog in training into the CADQ offices as volunteering (Thank you!), I was also aware that she influenced a policy on this for the entire university which is just amazing which will provide guidance for colleagues with Guide Dogs too, opening up spaces and conversations for the visually impaired.
I really enjoyed our talks about creativity and life in general and the most recent we were chatting about how you were hoping to get across to Spain as the pandemic had meant you weren’t able to be with your sister and mother. I am so saddened and shocked to hear the news of Ruth’s passing, she was such a beautiful person. Sending my deepest condolences to Ruth’s family and I hope that they can find some peace and feel proud of the positive impact she has had on many of us. The Team doesn’t feel the same without you Ruth but I’m so grateful to have known you xxxxxx

Ruth is so deeply missed. Her gentle, calm, kind personality made her a wonderful colleague. Ruth was a truly lovely member of the team who would always look out for others, and gently steer a sensible course, even when waters were troubled. I will treasure very fond memories of spending time with Ruth, including her sharp wit and self-effacing approach to making things work for everyone. My deepest, deepest thoughts are with Andrew and the children, now and always.

My deepest sympathy to Ruth’s partner and all her family. She was a wonderful person and an absolute pleasure to work with: sound and reliable and very hard-working, with a wicked ability to see the funny side, even when things got rather tense! A life taken much too soon.
With my respect and fond memories, Jenny

I was saddened to hear of the news of Ruth's passing; she was a thoughtful, kind and supportive Team Leader. I fondly remember the lockdown quizzes to keep up morale, and next week, when I visit Norfolk, I will dip my toe in the sea and think of her. My thoughts are with her family and friends at this time, she was truly a fantastic lady.

I recently got to know Ruth well as her Aurora mentor. I immediately warmed to her. Ruth was always calm, thoughtful and personable. We were looking forward to getting together over a coffee when we were both back on campus.
Ruth was such a warm person with ambition, inner confidence, and great capability. Such a great loss to so many.
All of her friends and colleagues are in my thoughts.
And sending my heartfelt condolences to her husband and young family.

My heartfelt thoughts are with her family, friends and colleagues who are feeling this sudden loss at this time.

I am so sad and shocked to hear this sad news. Ruth worked with my Department on a number of course development and validation events over the last 10-15 years. Ruth was always calm and thoughtful - such a lovely colleague to work with. Full of respect for others and always so helpful and knowledgeable. She will be much missed here at NTU. My thoughts are with her family and her colleagues at this difficult time.
Rest in peace, Ruth. XX

Ruth will be sadly missed by her work colleagues, friends and family. She was so very kind, thoughtful and caring, both in and out of the office. She always brought insight and a calming influence to any discussion. Having known her for over 20 years - since her relocation from Hull, we shared a house, spent Christmases together, and so much more. She is a huge loss as a friend as well as a colleague. She leaves a gap here at NTU and beyond.
Miss you Ruth x

Ruth was a fantastic colleague and friend, and I am so grateful to have had her in my life for the last 12 years.
Ruth was always so kind, thoughtful and caring, but most of all she could always made me laugh! Her dry sense of humour shone through even in the most difficult of times.
There are no words to describe the pain of losing Ruth, the world is a poorer place without her.
My thoughts are with her family and all those who loved her.
